I run the game to make sure it works, and on startup it is a black window for a second, and then it just stops responding. (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA) I download DSFix 2.4 and I put everything within that zip within the Data folder. I disable AA and Motion Blur in the in game settings and I quit the game. To be clear I am now on my 7th reinstall of the game nothing has worked.

After fiddling with the values some more it turns out that problem only occurs when " enableTextureDumping" is set to a value of 1, it works for a value of 0 and works for a value of 2 (although neither of those change any textures) the part that confused me is that other changes in DSfix have worked perfectly - I was able enable skip intros and all still works fine. This led me to the realisation that I'd need to change the DSfix.ini file to make any texture mods I download work.Īfter editing the file and changing " enableTextureDumping" and " enableTextureOverride" both to a value of 1 the game would constantly crash on start up to this error: " DARK SOULS: Prepare to die edition executable has stopped working". I've been trying to use a couple of the texture mods I downloaded from the nexus, on realising they weren't working I did some research in the forums here. I have done a few forum searches to make sure no other threads like this exist but if I missed a solution for this my apologies.
